RAWK the Inland Northwest, a local nonprofit organization, previously announced that it is hosting a Fall Showcase for high school bands from the region which desire to get some exposure. The field has now been filled, and the 25 bands are preparing for their participation in one of 5 dates at the Big Dipper, 171 S. Washington. This is not a "battle of the bands" but is a way of gaining exposure for many new bands, and another chance to get on stage for a few established young bands. The slots were filled on a "first-come, first-served" basis.
The eligibility requirements are generally the same as the RAWK Final Four, although this Showcase is not directly connected to the Final Four (it may result in us learning of new bands to invite to that competition, of course). Bands generally are of high school age, with at least half the members still being in high school, and with no member more than 2 years out of high school, or older than 20. Lyrical content and stage performance is not censored, but must be appropriate for all ages audiences.
The dates of the RAWK Fall Showcase are October 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14. There will be 5 bands performing per night. Set lengths will be up to 30 minutes. The set times will be at 7:00, 7:45, 8:30, 9:15, and 10:00 PM.
Tickets are priced at $5 in advance (available through the bands) or $7 at the door.
Bands are of any style, including "hard," "acoustic," "emo/screamo," or of any other genre. We asked that they be serious about their music, and have the necessary band gear (instruments, drum kit, guitar amps). RAWK is supplying main amps and speakers, monitors, and microphones.
The only "prize" offered to date is from Jason Duba's All Ages Show on Thin Air Radio (KYRS). He will bring the top 5 ticket-selling bands into his studio for live interviews during his program on Tuesday nights, 10 PM to midnight. Each of those 5 bands would have the opportunity to schedule a night with Jason, to be the solo guest for that night.
