RAWK the Inland Northwest, a nonprofit corporation located in Spokane, Washington, announces that The Chasing from Coeur d’Alene, Lakeland, and North Idaho Christian Schools has won the seventh annual RAWK Final Four, held at The Service Station on Saturday, March 1, 2008. This show was the concluding element of the RAWK Final Four, a competition between 20 younger bands in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area (with one competitor from Missoula, and one from Moses Lake). A large crowd was in attendance to watch the show. Paid attendance was 635 people over the course of the night. Attendance was not as large as the record of 2007. THE CHASING was awarded the Grand Prize of a weekend of recording time at Delve Studios in the Seattle area, and will receive a cash allocation toward travel expenses. They will also meet with Spokane Mayor Mary Verner, and appear on the All ages Show on Thin Air Radio. They will also receive a free photo session with RAWK Board member Rhea Beumer. Hail the Gunfire finished second in the voting/judging, and Guilty Conscience was third. Spokane Mayor Mary Verner and her son, Daniel and friend Noah, were in attendance to support the bands. A panel of judges added bonus points to the scoring. The Missoula band REXDISMANTLED scored the highest on the judge’s cards, followed by HAIL THE GUNFIRE. The show was video-taped by a team from the Vocational Skills Center, led by Mr. Scott Dethlefs (354-7422), and editing of the video recording will serve as a class project. Audio recording was provided by Mikey Grimm of Side Project Recording. Edited programming will be aired on Community Minded TV, Chanel 14 on the Comcast Cable system. The show featured a headline performance during ballot counting by ROCKY VOTOLATO. Photos of all the bands and performers taken by Rhea Beumer will be posted at www.rawkonline.com.
